Develop Confident Body Language

by Tom j Dolan

Learn How to Develop Confident Body Language

In this TED talk, one of my favorites, Amy Cuddy, a Social Psychologist, is going to talk to you about Body Language. Specifically “Why” & “How” you should Develop Confident Body Language. She’s going to share her perspective gained from her research as a Social Psychologist. She will explain what effective Body Language is “Good” and what’s not so good. And she’ll show you how you can tell the difference. In the Speaking world, there’s a lot of information around Body Language.

Some of it is, in my opinion complex, actually….

unnecessarily complex and can be more distracting than helpful. In this video with Amy Cuddy, you’ll understand what works and what doesn’t. She demo’s how our posture, movement, and other physical non-verbals in front of an audience has effects we might not be aware of. Her focus is to encourage you to earn more support from your audience. Body Language is a part of your Presentation Skills that might be ignored. But that’s not a good idea in today’s competitive Speaking arena. Obviously, you have made a commitment to the subject & effectiveness of your Presentation.

Now, What is your Presentation motivation? Your “job”, the success of your own business, or a serious interest in promoting a Solution to a current problem. Whatever it is, you want to succeed. Your effort at constructing and delivering an informative Presentation is to attract Support. Your Body Language and your Movement around the “Stage” can make a difference in the outcome. So, spend a couple of minutes with Amy and see if you can improve your results on stage. Keep in mind, as we say around here: Speaking is a Learnable set of Skills. Enjoy the video.
