It’s true, Speedy Speakers can lose out! Why? Well, because talking too fast, which is a trait of many Speakers, has a negative impact on your audience. This is a habit, usually the result of Stress, and unfortunately, it can act as a “wedge” between you and your audience. So there you are, up in front of a group of people, prepared to earn their Support, and they’re gathered together to hear your Proposal. They might want to support you and your Proposal…But,
1. The Audience has difficulty getting… emotionally invested in your Presentation. Support is in jeopardy and that’s not your Goal.
2. The Audience is Distracted by your Delivery and could completely miss the essence of your Speech or Presentation.
3. If You don’t develop the personal connection you want with this Audience, you’ve just wasted your efforts and their time.
Frankly, the Audience becomes fatigued and when that occurs you lose them and potentially, their Support. But wait a minute, that’s the reason you came here isn’t it? To earn, to develop Support for something important to you and to them: maybe a Product, Plan, or Solution. You don’t want to defeat yourself….Do you? Of course not,
So you need to Present your information in the best way possible and let the audience decide. Frankly, these kinds of outcomes can be avoided. Let’s take a look at some Solutions. With good Performance of Speaking skills and the Confidence to deliver them… everybody Wins, and that means your Cause too… and after all, that’s Why you’re here.
Your Goal is to maximize every speaking opportunity that you’ve earned. You don’t know who’s sitting in that audience that might be motivated to support your efforts. Speaking for Support can be like gambling in Las Vegas, but with much better odds if the Quality of your Delivery matches the Quality of your information.
