A Speakers Presentation Preparation … You know the typical advice: Use this or that software, Powerpoint, Keynote or something else to create your slides & images. Be careful of the number of Words per slide, not too many it can be confusing… maybe not text at all, only an image…that’s cool!, and then there’s more advice,
How about Font size & Color also can make a big difference. Then there’s bullet-points: should you use them or not?? … and if you do use them, how many per slide? and what kind of Bullet: star, dot, square? and should it be the same color as the font…or not? Bigger, smaller…It gets pretty crazy after awhile.
Sure, there’s a library of guide books on amazon, and websites with lots of “free” information available for you. But still, after all is said-and-done, generally, most Powerpoint shows fail to inspire an audience. Fail to inspire support, Fail to make the sale, Fail to change opinions. Yikes!!
So, With that in mind, I thought I’d toss in this interesting idea for you to consider:
Instead of preparing your next Presentation as a Presentation,
Prepare it as You would prepare a Speech. Hmmm, interesting idea,
but does it work?

These verbal place holders or space fillers are frequently heard in Speeches & Presentations. But they distract from your message and discourage attentive, Active listening by your Audience. The bottom line of all of this Speaking advice and suggestions is to encourage you to:
1st, encourage you to seek out a comfortable, secure Learning environment where you can take risks. The idea is simple really, but many people think it’s difficult and so they continue to avoid the Learning experience by hiding behind the false idea: the Fear of Speaking.
2nd, to encourage you to take those new skills you’ve learned, together with the Confidence you have developed along with those skills, and put them to good use at every opportunity. Of course you are not going to begin by giving a Keynote address at your local University graduation. But begin small and work-up. See my show on Volunteer activity which serves many good purposes, is a perfect place to begin, and you will be a Welcomed individual.
The Solution: Planning, Preparation, & Practice will help You resolve this Distracting issue. The Result: Attracting and keeping the attention & involvement of Your Audience.
