Young Speakers speak and are taking advantage of new opportunities to share their discoveries & ideas in public events like TEDx. This TEDx video shows a young man with something to say and a willingness to say it. At this TEDx event a young 6th Grade student shows us the possibilities for young students. Conversationally engaging us with eye contact and stage movement, he
tells his Story while he’s using an iPad as a reference to the points he intends to communicate to his audience.
So, will Tablets become the new notecards or scripts? I think there’s a strong possibility that they will replace paper references, especially as their capabilities increase. Add to that probability the increased and improved Speakers Apps that will inevitably be developed and the future looks bright for Speakers & Presenters in the Tech world.
The point of this Post is to show that anyone, of any age can communicate honestly and effectively at a public event. Of course if you’re an adult with years of speaking anxiety, the thought of You speaking in front of a group can be stressful and so you probably avoid it.
But remember, Performance of Speaking skills are Learnable. It doesn’t take long to learn to manage your feelings of embarrassment and develop Confidence in Speaking. If you have a passion to share, you have a reason to develop your speaking skills. Speakers have many opportunities open to them to Advocate & Educate for a better tomorrow.
